Tell us a bit about yourself ( age, location, maybe a couple of interesting facts and hobbies)

I’m Hanari Solomon. I’m 24 years old and I live in Florida. The main thing that I do nowadays is cosplay, but I like to do a lot of other things too. Mostly video gaming and traveling, whenever I can.

How long have you been cosplaying?

I’ve been cosplaying officially since 2011

What has been the most challenging part about creating either the props or the costume?

Trying to look like what I imagine the finished product to be. There’s a difference between making the cosplay and wearing the cosplay, and sometimes the two don’t always add up the way you want.

What do you normally do with the props when you “retire” a character?

Usually if it’s still in good condition, I sell it. I’ve sold quite a few of my old cosplays. It makes me feel better knowing that someone else somewhere will get more enjoyment out of it than I will. It always makes me happy.

What has been the most fun, or interesting experience you’ve had while cosplaying?

Traveling and competing! I’ve recently started entering costume competitions and it’s a lot of fun! It’s also really challenging, but that kind of challenge is what motivates me to want to do more. Photoshoots are always a big plus. I love getting pictures of my cosplays back after a con ends!

If time and money were no object – who would be your ultimate cosplay?

-I’m actually working on my Ultimate Cosplay right now! I’m going to be making the Galactic Guardian armor loadout from Spiral Knights. I’ve wanted to do it for years, and now I finally feel like I’m at a level where I can.

What has been the most impressive cosplay you’ve seen to date?  Who was the cosplayer?

I know a lot of cosplayers that have done some really incredible stuff. Sakizou work always blows me away. Recently I had the pleasure of seeing LuckyGrim in her Sakizou ballgown at NYCC and i was absolutely floored.

Do you have a path to monetize this, if so, do you feel like sharing your plans and goals?  Or is this more of a hobby?

I definitely have a path to monetize this. I feel like I have what it takes to be somebody inspirational, and I’ve already started a patreon so that I can give back to the community that supports me. You should totally go check it out! http://www.patreon.com/Hanari502
